Painting Classes
Basic & Beginners Class
Open to all. No drawing or painting experience required.
In these 16 sessions you will learn:
- techniques of drawing & graphite rendering
- forms & mudras specific to the Deity
- arrangements & placements of ornaments,landscapes & borders
- application, blending & laying techniques of paints
- Buddhist, Hindu & Nepalese iconography & art as a meditative process of heart illumination & sadhana.
16 week session

Advanced Class
Open to artists & individuals experienced with drawing techniques, graphite rendering, application & layering of paint. In this class you will choose Your favorite deity, work with the deity's mantra, create a magnificent painting & a vibrant embodiment of the divine!

About Dinesh Charan
A painting master from the fine arts society of Katmandu, Nepal, Dinesh Charan and his traditional Newari Thangka paintings have gained worldwide attention. Resonating with an ideal of the divine, this meditational and creative practice blends knowledge, skill and concentration, and has a strong devotional impact. Dinesh's inspired paintings possess an ecstatic, vibrational quality of aliveness.
Dinesh's works have been acknowledged and awarded first prizes at the National Art Exhibition in Nepal, and are included in the collections of renowned collectors and galleries including artist/collector Robert Beer, and the Asian Art Museum in Fukuoka, Japan. As a teacher with impeccable technique and a meditative approach, Dinesh is a gift to dedicated students and beginners alike. He currently lives and teaches in Berkeley, CA.
